30 Days To The Abyss Day 4

Welcome to day 4. Today I have a video where I discuss my motivations for this 30 day journey. I also interview my wife about her own journey. I apologize for the lighting and graininess of the video. I'm experimenting with the video camera to see what works best. Also, sorry for the length. It's just about 30 minutes like the intro video. I'm going to try to cut them down or separate them out so you aren't stuck watching your computer for half an hour.

I make reference to this set of pictures as being one of my motivators. This is a before/during/after pic of Rain, the star of Ninja Assassin. His transformation during the making of this movie is incredible and will continue to be a motivation for me throughout this 30 days and long after as well. By the way, the time frame for these pictures is 6 months from his start to the completion of his training. Pretty amazing, huh?!

Now, here is the video for today.

That should do it for today. Sorry I posted so late. Vimeo, the site I use to host my HD videos was being mean and wouldn't load my video for a few hours. Thanks for stopping by and as always please leave me any comments or questions that you may have.

  1. WHAT WAS ON THAT TV? I saw it flickering AND I MUST KNOW.

Anyway, why did no one tell me about myfitnesspal? I just checked it out, and it looks awesome!

I've seriously fallen off the workout wagon since I left Nebraska, because NO ONE HERE WILL WORK OUT WITH ME and I do -so- much better with a partner to help keep me motivated. Me running alone? I stop if my throat starts to feel raw. Me running with a partner? If they're not actively in the process of stopping, HELL TO THE NO I'm not gonna be the one to stop.

I also have been eating terribly since I got here. (Partly because IT IS SO BORING to cook for yourself.) Anyway I'm getting a little squishy around the middle, and I'm losing some of that hot definition I was starting to get. So I think I'll follow your lead and start doing just a little workout in the mornings. We've switched PT to afternoons, so I have no excuse.

My goal tomorrow morning: 25 push ups and 50 sit ups before I get ready for work. Just as a start to see what happens.

I'm really digging this. Watching you is inspiring me. I love watching you do this, reading the posts and watching the videos. It makes me want to life my lifestyle better. I took a great first step when I quit smoking two months ago, I guess now it's time to take the next step and improve my overall health.

So thanks, both of you, for the inspiration! Katy, you're beautiful and if you have any tips on how to not totally pig out, I'd love to hear them!

    Love to you both! <3

  2. Hello Miss Kendall! This is Katy chiming in. Honestly, I found that keeping track of my food on myfitnesspal really helped to keep me from pigging out! Being accountable to myself and to my cyber-pals, ha, as well as just the plain fact of seeing it there in black and white, no denying just how many calories I'd eaten...it had an impact! So now I try to REALLY ENJOY the treats I do give myself, paying attention when I eat them rather than scarfing mindlessly. If you fully commit yourself to enjoying the one or two pieces of candy, you don't need to keep eating more! Well, it worked for me, anyway. Ha!

  3. K, it was NCIS. And trust me, when I was watching the video after we finished it was driving me crazy because it was so distracting to see the reflections!

I feel your pain about not having anyone to workout with because I've been saying since I got out of the diving Navy that it's impossible to have that kind of motivation without being around other like minded people.

I'm glad we're inspiring you. Keep up the good work! And I'm glad you stopped that nasty ass smoking habit! It's gross and very destructive for no good reason! :-D
